Let me back up a bit because this one is going to take some explaining...

I grew up in a successful entrepreneurial family in which we discussed business principles and contract negotiation over the dinner table. Entrepreneurship and business in literally in my veins. I am the fourth generation business owner from both my father and mother's sides of the family.

Business came naturally to me.

Ministry did not.

If you would have told me that I would be a minister called to equip ministry leaders when I was a little girl, I would have laughed. As a matter of fact, Ms. Hawthorne, the Creative Writing teacher my senior year in High School said just that. One day as I was turning in a writing assignment at her desk, she looked up at me and said, "You are going to do something that is going to impact many, many people. You are going to be a minister when you grow up." I literally laughed at the thought.

Ms. Hawthorne was a free-spirited person and I figured she was just musing that day. But she was on to something.

While I knew I had a huge calling on my life and I have always loved people, I was not clear that it was a calling into the ministry until 2000.

By August 2001, I had had enough of the corporate world and decided to leave and take the leap of faith (without a single penny saved) to start my ministry. Because of my business background and call to the nations, it never even occurred to me to pursue being a minister in a way that involved a paycheck.

I knew that I had to figure out a way to apply my business know-how to building a thriving, full-time ministry. There was no Plan B. This was it! I had to sink or swim!

I have always been an avid reader of business books and publications, so I increased the number of books I was reading so I could understand how to succeed in faith-based ministry.

The Lord began to take me on a profound journey as a minister to break me, empty me out and rebuild me in His likeness. This began a process of deeply understanding the intersection of ministry and business and creating a model for professional full-time ministry that did not exist at the time.

At first, I tried to simply apply business practices and principles to ministry. It did not take long to see that it didn't work that way. Christians are not wired the same as the secular world when it comes to money and finances.

I had to create a hybrid model and system that worked in a BIG way and in a SHORT time. My ministry had to be my livelihood because the day I decided to walk away from corporate America, I vowed to never return.

I figured out how to master marketing and connecting techniques that kept my speaking schedule full, rolled out new programs, and created products that kept continual revenue flowing into the ministry. Yes, there were plenty of years of juggling and even some collapsing on my bed in tears feeling completely defeated.

 

And everything, I even thought about dusting off my resume the Lord would intercept me and ask, "Have you done everything I have asked of you?" The answer was always "No." He had shown me so much more and the steps to take to get there.

I knew that if I was going to build someone's vision, it was going to be the one God created for me to fulfill.

I would roll up my sleeves and study more books, more seminars and more training. I would then take that information to the Lord and He would show me how to apply it to His vision for the ministry.

After ten years and thousands of hours of sitting in His presence and studying marketing, I have arrived at a system that makes it easy for others to share the message of their ministry with others both locally and round the world.

I am unveiling my marketing system for the first time in one, cohesive training system.

It is not enough to be a great teacher or preacher of the Word. You are also responsible for getting that message into the hands of the people God has set aside for you to reach.

In other words, every ministry has to understand that they have a message to get into the marketplace and the best way to do this. And it has to be effective so you can get back to the core functions of working with the people of God and bringing salvation to the unsaved.

But, most ministers are not wired for business. This lack of business wiring is so prevalent in the ministry community that most ministers are not even comfortable working their ministry as their livelihood and just passing along your gifting for free.

But, Jesus needs you to complete the works that He began upon the earth. He needs you to plant His Kingdom.

How can you do this if no one knows the message He has given you to carry to His people?

This means that as ministers we have to also become masters at connecting or what the world calls marketing.

This is a serious challenge for most ministers because we are heart people. Ministry and marketing are not in the same sentence for most ministers.

I have taken the head-ache, frustration and overwhelm out of the process of you finding and connecting with your flock. With this proven system, you will easily be able to locate your flock and communicate with them both online and offline powerfully and often.

I have perfected this marketing system over the last ten years. When I began my ministry, I could not find ANYTHING that spoke to the unique needs of a ministry in sharing your information with others. It wasn't as easy as plugging in my information into secular marketing systems, programs and teaching.

I had to figure out how to do this on my own with absolutely NO model for those called to build and grow a ministry outside of the local church structure.

I perfected this system as I had to rebuild my ministry from scratch three different times. The first time was when I made a decision to move into full obedience and leave corporate training to teach "spiritual" principles. But, Jesus did not let me get away with this for long.

As I was filming a TV show back in Seattle, right in the middle of the walk-through He asked me, "Why do you keep hiding me?" That day I had to hit the "restart" button and shift my work to the Christians to which I was called.

I had to start over. Almost NONE of my professional contacts were in the Christian community. I had to learn very quickly how to redefine my target market to taking responsibility for having a portion of the Lord's flock to teach and equip.

As soon as I was plugging along and had built my elist to thousands, the Lord called me to move my ministry from Seattle, WA to Raleigh, NC. Not only did I have to start over in a new location where NOBODY knew my name or my work, the Lord told me that I had to terminate the two training contracts I had with other companies in order to release all He has placed within me.

I had to dust off the marketing principles I had learned the first and second time around and move them into high-gear  because I had only weeks to produce the income that was needed to sustain both the ministry and my daughter...as a single mother.

I had to get real good really fast.

And About that Money Thing

 

It is time to activate your divine scriptural right to make a living through your ministry (see 1 Corinthians 9: 14). God has given you gifts so you can apply those gifts to building His Kingdom on a full-time basis. Face it, your vision needs ALL of you.

That means that you must make peace with sharing your message with others. That means you must make peace with how to package your message in a way that you never has to ask for money again, but people will see the inherent value in what you bring to the table and begin asking you, "How much do you charge?" for your time and teaching.

And they will ask, "How much does this cost?" for your resources, programs and tools.

There is a way to create such value that you never have to beg or ask for money from people again.

This is important as a full-time itinerate minister (one not assigned to pastor, but to take the message of the Lord to the people).

With an unprecedented number of  resources right at your fingertips, this can actually be easy.

But, the key is to do it inside of a system so it doesn't feel overwhelming and take up too much of your time.

And you also have to know how to manage all of the requests that will come pouring in for your services and products from around the nation and world.

Because it is coming...but you can manage it at the level to which God has called you and actually enjoy marketing and sharing His message with others in new and effective ways.
